Medical Diagnosis and Treatment
A licensed, board-certified TimelyMD provider physician (MD), nurse practitioner (NP), or physician assistant (PA) will review and discuss your symptoms, make a diagnosis, and develop your treatment plan.
We do our best to treat you online, but not every condition can be treated via telemedicine. If your health concern cannot be addressed through TimelyMD, you may be directed to another location for care.
Psychiatry
The counseling center on campus will provide an access code if it is determined they need access to psychiatric care.
TimelyMD will ensure we have providers available in the state where your school is located. Students will also be able to access services from psychiatrist when traveling in any other state we have a psychiatrist available.
Can TimelyMD patients get a prescription?
TimelyMD providers are licensed and able to prescribe certain medications as part of your care plan, if clinically appropriate. Examples of medications prescribed by TimelyMD providers include antibiotics, inhalers, eyedrops, and antihistamines, as well as other therapeutic medications. TimelyMD providers can also refill short-term supplies of maintenance medications in the event of a patient’s transition to a new doctor or inability to get in touch with their primary care doctor due to limited hours or appointments. TimelyMD does believe in safe prescribing of medications and the need for a patient to have a relationship with their primary care doctor. As such, TimelyMD providers do not supply long-term medications for chronic illness and encourage patients to see their primary care doctor at least once a year.
TimelyMD providers do not provide prescriptions for controlled substances, lifestyle medications (such as Viagra or Cialis), hormone replacement therapies, or other potentially dangerous or addictive drugs.
TimelyMD is not an online pharmacy, and we cannot fill prescriptions. If a prescription medication is part of your treatment plan, it will be sent to the pharmacy of your choice. You are responsible for the cost of any prescriptions, over-the-counter treatments, or follow-up visits you may need related to prescriptions. TimelyMD counselors can not write prescriptions.
If a prescription is clinically appropriate, it will be sent to a local pharmacy of your choice. When you are filling our your intake information, you will select a local pharmacy that is convenient for you – it’s that easy.
Most pharmacies accept most insurance plans. That said, please verify that the pharmacy you select is within your covered network before sending your prescription. If needed, you can request a pharmacy change by calling TimelyMD support at 833-484-6359 or by emailing help@timely.md.
TimelyMD medical providers can evaluate and offer treatment options for many dermatologic issues, such as rashes, abrasions, dandruff, acne and cold sores. If a provider determines that an in-person visit is needed for a procedure or lab work, he or she will advise the student on the necessary next steps to take.
Our mental health providers are available 24 hours a day, and our goal is to respond with you within the hour — many times much sooner.

Antibiotics only fight infections caused by bacteria. Like all drugs, they can be harmful and should only be used when necessary. Taking antibiotics when a patient has a virus can do more harm than good: patients will still feel sick and the antibiotic could cause a skin rash, diarrhea, a yeast infection, or worse.
Antibiotics also give bacteria a chance to become more resistant to them. This can make future infections harder to treat. It means that antibiotics might not work when a patient really does need them. Because of this, it is important that patients only use an antibiotic when it is necessary to treat an illness.
How can patients help? When you have a cough, sore throat, or other illness, tell the provider you only want an antibiotic if it is really necessary. If you are not prescribed an antibiotic, ask what you can do to feel better and get relief from your symptoms.
Your health is important to us. As your healthcare providers, we promise to provide the best possible treatment for your condition. If an antibiotic is not needed, we will explain this to you and will offer a treatment plan that will help. We are dedicated to prescribing antibiotics only when they are needed, and we will avoid giving you antibiotics when they might do more harm than good.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask your provider.

If you are a TimelyMD patient, your visit records will be saved as part of your medical records. For your convenience and with your consent, patient records can be shared. If you want to share your records with a physician outside of TimelyMD, you can print or email your records, or call 833-484-6359 to have us send a copy of your TimelyMD records to your provider.
