(FORT WORTH, Texas) —
TimelyMD, the leading telehealth company specializing in higher education, is honored to be a founding partner of National Mental Health Action Day, which will be held on Thursday, May 20 during Mental Health Awareness Month.
Initiated by MTV Entertainment Group, National Mental Health Action Day is a partnership among nearly 200 leading businesses, nonprofits and advocacy groups. TimelyMD is the only national telehealth company to serve as a founding partner of this cultural movement which aims to drive societal change from mental health awareness to mental health action.
In addition to continuing to offer students 24/7 mental health support anytime, anywhere, TimelyMD will launch a new webinar series called ‘Gen Ztressed’ on Mental Health Action Day. In keeping with its vision to empower students to be well and thrive, TimelyMD will bring together experts from colleges, universities, mental health associations and EdTech companies who are paving the way for student success and well-being to provide attendees with real-world tools and resources to support students of all backgrounds
The need for action has never been more important. One year into the COVID-19 pandemic, four out of five college students say their mental health continues to suffer, according to a
recent survey by TimelyMD. Suicide is the second leading cause of death of Americans between the ages of 10 and 34. The converging issues of the pandemic, racial injustice and economic strain have accelerated the already dire crisis, giving way to what many mental health professionals have called the “second pandemic.”
“We have seen firsthand the devastating toll loneliness, isolation, stress and anxiety have taken on college students over the last year. As society reopens, many are feeling uncertain as they resume everyday activities, while others find themselves somewhere along the spectrum between relief and grief,” said Luke Hejl, CEO and co-founder. “TimelyMD is proud to support Mental Health Action Day on May 20 and provide access to virtual mental health care all day, every day.”

“From COVID-19 to economic struggles and the continuing fight for racial justice, the other half of the twin pandemic is the rise of our mental health challenges,” said Erika Soto Lamb, Vice President of Social Impact Strategy at MTV Entertainment Group. “This is a critical moment to shift our culture from mental health awareness to mental health action and MTV is proud to come together with diverse cross-sector leaders on this inaugural day to encourage and empower people to take action — for themselves, for their loved ones or for the systemic changes needed to improve our social and emotional wellbeing.”
Available on more than 85 campuses across the country, TimelyMD helps colleges and universities eliminate barriers to getting students the help they need by offering 24/7 access to high-quality, team-based care in all 50 states at no cost to students. In addition to virtual medical care, TimelyMD offers a student-centric, stair-step approach to mental health and well-being—including holistic health coaching, on-demand emotional support (TalkNow), scheduled counseling, and psychiatry services.
