Student Insurance USA Supports Students with 24/7 Telehealth Service Powered by TimelyMD
Student Insurance USA has partnered with TimelyMD, a telehealth company specializing in higher education, to implement a new program that allows students at partner schools access to free medical and mental health counseling visits anytime, from anywhere in the United States.
“We chose TimelyMD after several months of vetting many other telemedicine providers because of their experience working with students in higher education and the passion they showed for helping students thrive both mentally and physically,” said Kimberly Rowan, Executive Account Manager, Student Insurance USA.
Nationally, the demand for telehealth and mental health counseling continues to surge to help care for displaced students and meet them where they are with quality care. Licensed providers in all 50 states can help Student Insurance USA partners improve students’ mental and physical health, supplement campus clinic resources, and grant peace of mind to both students and parents while limiting the spread of illness.
“Student Insurance prides itself on providing the best options for our schools and students. We have partnered with TimelyMD to offer the most complete telemedicine program to all of our partners at very competitive rates,” said Andy Zehnder, Student Insurance USA.
TimelyMD’s telehealth service can be accessed from anywhere in the United States with an internet connection via a voice or video visit, making it convenient for each student’s individual circumstances.
It provides three key services:
- TalkNow: 24/7, on-demand access to a mental health professional to talk about anything, at any time, including issues ranging from academic anxiety, relationship issues, LGBTQ+, grief, eating disorders and depression.
- Scheduled Counseling: Single or recurring sessions with a licensed counselor of their choice to discuss any of the issues mentioned above.
- Medical: 24/7, on-demand access to medical providers that are trained to treat a wide range of medical conditions, including cold and flu, sinus infection, ear infection, bladder infection (UTI) and pink eye.
“Community college students are on the front lines of health care and many other essential services. Virtual access to medical and mental health counseling has never been more important,” said Luke Hejl, Chief Executive Officer of TimelyMD. “A strategic telehealth program with Student Insurance USA is more than an access tool — it is a comprehensive solution, which not only maximizes campus resources, but also concretely demonstrates their continued commitment to students and families during this critical time.”
